Thousands of supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Akwatia Constituency hit the streets of Akyem Boadua-Akwatia in the Eastern Region on Sunday, August 17, in a massive health walk to prepare for the by-election slated for September 2 as part of the Operation Win All Polling Stations campaign in the constituency.
Speaking at the event, NPP National Youth Organizer, Salam Mustapha, pleaded with the people of Akwatia constituency to vote massively for the NPP candidate, Solomon Kwame Asumadu, for development and to honour their late MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi. He promised to refute any means to rig the elections for NDC.
Meanwhile, Solomon Kwame Asumadu, the NPP’s confirmed parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia by-election, speaking has called on party faithfuls to unite and win the seat in honor of the late MP, Ernest Yaw Kumi. He appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to intensify security to have a peaceful by-election coming on September 2.
On his part, the NPP Eastern Regional Chairman, Jeff Konadu Addo, has called on all party faithfuls to come and vote on September 2 for victory for the NPP. According to him, people are attributing the Ablakwa violence to the Akwatia by-election; he promised that the election will be peaceful without any violence.
