The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, has led a massive dredging and clean-up exercise at the heavily choked Subin Gutter at Asokwa overhead to Ahodwo roundabout in KMA and Asokwa border.
This effort was part of the National Sanitation Day activities, which aim to improve public health and environmental cleanliness.
Dr. Amoakohene, together with the KMA Chief Executive, Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, and the Asokwa MCE, Amoh Kamel, spearheaded the initiative.
My Ghana Media TV’s reports on the situation, which highlighted the gutter’s negative effects on human health, prompted this endeavor.

Speaking to the KMA Chief Executive during the dredging and clean-up exercise , Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi aka King Zuba noted that cleaning the gutter won’t be a one-day task, estimating it would take about two weeks due to the volume of work involved.
He emphasized that while the current clean-up is temporary, measures are being put in place to engineer a more permanent solution to prevent the gutter from overflowing.
He criticized residents for littering the gutter, particularly during rainfall, which hinders development and diverts funds meant for other projects.
The MCE for Asokwa, Amoh Kamel, assured residents that his office, in collaboration with the KMA and the Regional Minister, would work tirelessly to ensure the gutter remains clean and functional.
He urged Ghanaians to support the government’s sanitation efforts.
He also called on residents responsible for littering the gutter to desist, warning that anyone caught would face the full force of the law.
