The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, Ahmed Ibrahim, has announced plans to intensify efforts to tackle sanitation issues in Ghana ahead of the Christmas festivities.
The minister made this known during National Sanitation Day celebrations in the Krowor, Ledzokuku, and La-Dadekotopon municipalities.
Ahmed Ibrahim called on Ghanaians to support the messages from traditional authorities, Christian bodies, and Islamic bodies in promoting good sanitation practices.
He emphasized the importance of a clean environment, citing his recent visit to Spain, where he gained insights into effective sanitation systems.
The minister also announced an upcoming sanitation conference, which will bring together non-governmental organizations (NGOs) working in the sanitation and environment sectors.
The conference aims to discuss ways to improve sanitation in Ghana and promote a clean environment.
Ahmed Ibrahim set a target for Ghana to be clean and bright by December, in time for the Christmas celebrations. He urged Ghanaians to take ownership of sanitation efforts and work towards achieving a clean and healthy environment.
