Ghana Armed Forces Recruitment Deadline Extended

The  Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has granted a crucial one-week extension for its ongoing nationwide recruitment exercise, citing “technical challenges encountered on the recruitment portal” that disrupted the initial application phase.

Prospective applicants seeking a career in the Army, Navy, or Air Force now have until November 7, 2025, to complete and submit their applications.

The decision was formalised in a press release issued on October 31, 2025, from the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, ensuring that all interested and qualified Ghanaian citizens are given a fair opportunity to enlist.

The recruitment drive, which was launched on October 1, 2025, was originally scheduled to close on October 31. The unexpected online difficulties, however, forced the high command to revise the timeline.

The official statement confirming the extension was signed by Colonel Evelyn Ntiamoah Asamoah, Acting Director General of Public Relations of the Ghana Armed Forces.

“The Ghana Armed Forces has extended the deadline for the ongoing recruitment exercise by one week due to some technical challenges encountered on the recruitment portal during the initial period,” the release stated.

The military hierarchy promptly issued an apology for the disruption, appealing to applicants and the general public for their patience and cooperation as the process moves forward under the new deadline.

The current exercise is part of a broader government strategy to boost the country’s defence capacity by enlisting an estimated 12,000 new personnel into the Armed Forces over the next three years. The process covers all branches of the GAF: the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Key Applicant Data and Requirements:

New Deadline: November 7, 2025.
Cost: Applicants must purchase an electronic recruitment voucher at a price of GH¢200 from selected Ghana Post offices.
Portal: Applications must be completed exclusively on the official portal at apply.mil.gh.
Age: Applicants must be Ghanaian citizens by birth, of good character, and aged between 18 and 25 years for non-tradesmen, or up to 27 years for tradesmen.
Verification: Registration and verification centers are operational in all 16 regional capitals of Ghana.
Cyber-Fraud Warning: Recruitment is Not For Sale
Amidst the application process, the GAF issued a stern caution to the public regarding rampant recruitment fraud. The military stressed that the entire enlistment process is based strictly on merit and is completely transparent.

The Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Brogya Genfi, reiterated the government’s stance, reminding the public that recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is “not for sale”.

This warning comes after the Cyber Security Authority recently identified 86 fake social media accounts impersonating the GAF and engaged in recruitment fraud in a single week in late October. The GAF emphasized that official information is only published in the state-owned Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times newspapers, urging applicants to ignore fraudulent links circulating on platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.
