Report On August 6 Helicopter Crash Submitted To President Mahama

The investigative committee, chaired by the Acting Minister for Defence, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has submitted its final report on the tragic military helicopter crash that occurred on August 6, 2025, to President John Dramani Mahama.

The presentation was made on Monday, November 10, during a National Security Council meeting held at the Jubilee House in Accra.

The committee, which was constituted shortly after the crash, was tasked with establishing the cause of the incident and recommending measures to prevent future occurrences.

Its report is said to contain detailed findings covering technical, operational, and environmental factors that may have contributed to the fatal accident.

Government sources have said that the findings will be made public on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at an official press briefing, where key recommendations and next steps are expected to be outlined.

The crash involved a Harbin Z-9EH military helicopter (tail number GHF 631) operated by the Ghana Air Force. The aircraft departed from Accra at about 9:12 a.m. en route to Obuasi in the Ashanti Region on an anti-illegal mining operation when it lost radar contact and crashed in the Adansi Akrofuom District.Ghana travel guide

Tragically, all eight passengers and crew on board lost their lives. The victims included: Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Muniru Mohammed Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Samuel Sarpong, NDC Vice-Chair, Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

The investigation, chaired by National Security Coordinator Abdul-Osman Razak, was conducted in collaboration with the Ghana Air Force, the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), and international aviation experts.
