Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the murder of Nana Owusu Korkor, the destooled Akwamuhene of Tanoso, whose death has sent shockwaves through the Akwamu Traditional Area.
The suspects, who were arrested between Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11, 2025, are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.
They have been identified as Issifu Addae, alias Akwasi Addae, aged 48, Stephen Gyamfi, aged 55, Augustine Arhinful, aged 42 and Martha Mansah, aged 65.
According to police sources, all four suspects have denied any involvement in the killing during interrogation. Preliminary investigations revealed that the late Nana Owusu Korkor had been destooled as the Akwamuhene of Tanoso, after which Nana Akyeampong Duodu was installed as his successor.
The deceased, however, rejected his destoolment and engaged the royal family in a series of court disputes.

Further findings suggest that the late chief had been accused of misappropriating five gold bars belonging to the family and of illegally selling family land to a private developer after his removal from office.
In response, suspects Issifu Addae, Stephen Gyamfi, Sampson, and Fosu allegedly visited the disputed land to prevent the developer from continuing work. They reportedly seized a block-moulding machine at the site and threatened to “teach the deceased a lesson”, according to police reports.
Investigators also suspect that Nana Akyeampong Duodu, the newly installed Akwamuhene, may have masterminded the murder. He is believed to have travelled to the United States around the time of the incident, allegedly to establish an alibi.
