President John Mahama has inaugurated an 11-member inter-ministerial committee to oversee Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The committee will be chaired by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Stan Xoese Dogbe. He will be assisted by Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, the Minister for Youth Development, George Opare, the Deputy Tourism and Culture Minister, Yusif Jajah, the Deputy Finance Minister Ampem Nyarkoh, and the GFA Chairman Kurt Okraku will also serve on the committee.
Other members of the committee include Deputy National Security Coordinator, Elizabeth Yankah, former footballer Abedi Pele, and the Chief Director at the Sports Ministry, Wilhelmina Asamoah.
An additional member will be appointed from the private sector to serve on the committee.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, November 26, the Sports Minister, Kofi Adams, noted that at the last cabinet meeting, a decision was made to set up a team of this nature to oversee the general planning of activities coordinating Ghana’s participation at the World Cup.
‘‘It is necessary to ensure proper coordination between the technical and all other individual components so that we do not work in silos.’’
The government has already allocated an amount of GH₵150 million for the tournament.
