Unemployed Environmental Health Officers and Assistants have announced plans to stage a demonstration on Monday, December 15, 2025, to protest what they describe as years of unemployment and sustained neglect by the state.
In a statement, the group said the planned protest is to demand immediate employment, postings, and formal recognition for trained Environmental Health Officers, Assistants, and graduates of the School of Hygiene.School supplies
According to the association, the demonstration will begin at Independence Square in Accra and move through key ministries and state institutions responsible for sanitation, health, and local governance.
The group assured that the march will be peaceful and orderly, featuring organised chants and traditional Jama performances to draw public attention to what it says are over five years of delayed postings and underutilised professional expertise.
“At every ministry we pass, we will respectfully but firmly demand answers. Ghana needs sanitation officers now, and the government must act,” the statement said.
The association stressed that the protest is not intended to disrupt public order but to highlight the urgent need for effective sanitation enforcement and environmental health protection, particularly amid persistent public health risks.Ghana sports merchandise
It further noted that Environmental Health Officers are trained and licensed by the Allied Health Professions Council to safeguard public health and the environment, yet continue to be sidelined despite escalating sanitation challenges nationwide.
The group has therefore called on media organisations across print, broadcast and digital platforms to cover the demonstration, describing it as a civic action in the national interest.
“Sanitation is national security, and Ghana cannot continue to delay the enforcement of sanitation laws,” the statement added.
