“He Was Just A Normal MP” – Kwasi Bedzrah Mourns Late Toure Mahama

The Member of Parliament for Ho West and Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Energy, Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, has expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the late MP for Ayawaso East, Naser Toure Mahama.

Describing the loss as “profound,” Bedzrah said the nation, Parliament, and the constituents of Ayawaso East have all been deeply affected by Mahama’s death.

Speaking in an interview with Barima Kofi Dawson better known as Akokoa on Nhyria FM’s “Kro yi mu nsem” morning show, Bedzrah recounted the circumstances surrounding his colleague’s passing.

He revealed that Naser Toure Mahama who served on Parliamentary committee on energy as vice Chairman had been ill for some time, and that the Energy Committee had deliberately eased his workload out of respect for his health, even though he had served the committee diligently for many years.

Bedzrah painted a picture of a quiet, unassuming legislator.

“Naser was not the type to get angry,” the Ho West MP said. “He was a normal MP—some people even complained that he didn’t speak much. But whenever I had a problem as chairman and didn’t understand something, he was the first person I called.”

He added that Naser Mahama’s advice was invaluable, often drawing on the way things had been done before his own tenure on the committee.

The chairman of the Energy Committee further emphasized Mahama’s humility and aversion to conflict.

“He was a regular MP who disliked conflict, and we need more people like him in every society,” Bedzrah remarked.

He described the late lawmaker as a kind-hearted individual whose contributions had left a lasting imprint on both the Energy Committee and the broader parliamentary community.

In his tribute, Bedzrah called on Ghanaians to remember the late MP not only for his service but also for the quiet dignity he brought to public life.

“Ghana has lost a very kind MP,” he said. “May his legacy inspire us to work with patience, humility, and dedication.”
