He said, their checks had revealed that homeowners and foreign nationals are not conversant with the renting laws of Ghana.
Speaking on Windy Morning Express on Radio Windy Bay, Chief Superintendent Ayensu said, the trend poses great danger to the country, hence is important for landlords and property owners to ensure due diligence before renting out their houses, especially to foreigners.
He pointed out that is an offence to rent one’s house to a foreigner without recourse to immigration. It is not that we living in acephalous society where there are no laws. But we have laws regulating this.
” I will like to appeal to land lords and ladies to let us feature in their activities. I believe that when these people know that we know they are there and we have eyes on them, I think it will check their activities.”
His call comes on the back of the increasing number of foreign nationals in Winneba found to be engaging in some criminal activities.
Chief Superintendent Ayensu has therefore urged the general public to volunteer information to clamp down on these people and their activities.
