Indeed, 4th August, 2021 will go down in history of our dear nation as the day, the Ghanaian Youth despised the danger of COVID-19 pandemic at the peril of their dear lives to express their dispirited hope, for the government of the day to fix at least the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.

#Fixthecountry is a process of self-organisation beginning from Ghana which resonates well with every country and government in the world. #Fixthecountry as a matter of fact is the bases upon which any government seeks political power.

The government of NPP under Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo should count herself as the luckiest for the youth firstly fixing their thoughts, able and are demonstrating to showcase their willingness for the government to lead the phenomenal transformation of Ghana with the amendment of the 1992 Constitution by 2022.

The youth should at least observe the nose mask protocol of COVID-19 and be vigilant for those who may join them to cause havoc and mar the objective of their life risky demonstration. The security should live per their mandate and it will be the silver lining test for IGP Dr.George Dampare’s administration. Congratulations upon your assumption to the office of IGP on 1st August, 2021.

#Fixthecountry has been anticipated over a decade ago when the former President of US, Barack Obama called on Ghanaian Youth on July 11, 2009 in the Parliament House of Ghana.

“And I’ve come here to Ghana for a simple reason: The 21st century will be shaped by what happens not just in Rome or Moscow or Washington, but by what happens in Accra, as well. Development depends on good governance…That’s the change that can unlock Africa’s potential. And that is a responsibility that can only be met by Africans. As I said in Cairo, each nation gives life to democracy in its own way, and in line with its own traditions… The essential truth of democracy is that each nation determines its own destiny.

And I am particularly speaking to the young people all across Africa and right here in Ghana. And here is what you must know: The world will be what you make of it. You have the power to hold your leaders accountable, and to build institutions that serve the people. Yes you can because in this moment, history is on the move. And it won’t be easy. It will take time and effort. There will be suffering and setbacks. But I can promise you this: America will be with you every step of the way — as a partner, as a friend.

Now, it is your responsibility to build upon freedom’s foundation. And if you do, we will look back years from now to places like Accra and say this was the time when the promise was realised; this was the moment when prosperity was forged, when pain was overcome, and a new era of progress began. This can be the time when we witness the triumph of justice once more. Yes we can. Thank you very much. God bless you.”

#Fixthecountry Youth should know that, the eagle eyes of the world have zoomed to Ghana to pick movements of even pins on the ground. Your courage to overcome fear of death has demonstrated that the real youth is the person who creates the desired future by the present actions.

Circumstances may not allow us to be with you in body but know that we are by your side to help channel and structure your energies for productive transformation for the next generation.

God bless Ghana.

Signed

Jacob Osei Yeboah

2012-2020 Independent Presidential Candidate
