The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has described as fake a purported statement circulating on social media indicating 2021 WASSCE for School results of candidates who sat for the just-ended examination have been released.
The purported release sighted by MyGhanaMedia.com said the Examinations Council has withheld the results of 388 candidates adding that it is pending the conclusion of an investigation into the examination malpractice.
It also said the scripts of candidates from some Senior High Schools (SHSs) in certain subjects are undergoing scrutiny. The withheld results of candidates may be cancelled or released based on the outcomes of the investigations.
But, WAEC reacting to the false statement said the 2021 WASSCE results of candidates who sat for the international examination have not been released, thus the candidates and the public should disregard any such information.
Speaking to Ahenkan FM’s Maakye morning show hosted by Obuoba Ofori Amanfo, the Public relations officer for West African Examination council, Ghana, Mrs. Winifred Apiaw said this is because it is still processing the results.
He also warned WAEC’s stakeholders about the activities of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee.
“Co-ordination and Marking Exercises have been completed and processing of results as well as other post-examination activities are ongoing,” she said.
“The Council cautions candidates to be wary of websites announcing the release of the results and of persons who promise to upgrade results for a fee. These are activities of fraudsters and all stakeholders are hereby alerted accordingly.
Furthermore, she urges all institutions to always authenticate results presented to them.”
