Flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto has dared former President John Dramani Mahama who was recently elected as the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to bring it on in the 2024 general elections.
The former Minister of Food and Agriculture indicated that he would defeat Mr Mahama if he is elected flagbearer of the NPP.
He said this while addressing a group of his supporters who had picked the nomination forms for him to contest in the internal elections of the NPP, on Monday, May 29.
“We will are going to secure victory and head into the elections next year. If the NDC has elected John Mahama, let him bring it on, we will defeat him,” he said.
The NPP opened nominations for its flagbearer elections on Friday, May 26.
The nominations will close on Saturday, June 24, according to a press release issued on Thursday, May 25.
“Consequently, an Aspiring Presidential Candidate shall obtain the Nomination Forms after payment of a non-refundable nomination fee of Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢50, 000.00) only, through a Banker’s Draft,” the statement said.
