CETAG Calls Off Strike

The National Council of the Colleges of Education Teachers Association of Ghana (CETAG), has suspended its strike over the non-implementation of 2017-2020 conditions of service

 

 

In a statement, the council said validation of January 2022 salaries has, however, confirmed the implementation of the conditions.

 

 

This means teaching activities will continue in all the 46 public colleges of education from Tuesday, January 25, 2022.

The end of the strike, notwithstanding, the council said it had noted some “disproportionate anomalies” in the payment of arrears.

“Unequivocally, the leadership of CETAG would like to express its utmost displeasure and grave concern about the manner in which the payment of the 2017-2020 CoS arrears has been implemented,” the statement noted.

 

 

“CETAG expects that the needed steps will be taken by stakeholders to remedy the situation by paying fully all unpaid arrears in February 2022 by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department (CAGD),” it added.

 

 

 

It also said it expects the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission “to take steps to re-engage the leadership of CETAG to conclude the negotiations of the 2021 CoS before the end of February 2022.”
