A declined independent presidential aspirant, Onipayede Osom Teye has cautioned Ghanaians to stop blaming the head coaches and players for the teams crisis but rather the sports Journalists for promoting and recommending unqualified players.
According to him the Journalists have a bigger and vibrant role to play for the success of the team but not the other way around.
” this has been the habit of our Journalists since 1992, forgotten that trophies are won by Teams but not individual player.
Personal interest of some of these journalists sometimes mount pressure on the technical team and get negative impact on the playing body as well” Onipayede hinted.
“How can a whole sports journalist before our unsuccessful AFCON trip recommend Asamoah Gyan who has never won a trophy for Ghana to the technical team and others criticizing the coach for calling Dede Ayew who has worn a world-cup for the nation?
I think our Journalists can do more by analysing the need of why our coaches have to start making a solid team for the nation than to recommend and comparing players” Onipayede added.
“I therefore recommend that if journalists have anyone to promote or interview they should be players who have won trophies before, to motivate our current team and that will go a short way to the success of Black Stars”he ended.
