A letter from the Ghana Education Service (GES) indicates that from 1st March 2022, all teachers/staff occupying school or government bungalows nationwide will pay 10% of their basic salary as rent.

According to the letter, dated 11th March 2022, the Ghana Education Service indicated that the directive is in line with efforts to streamline the anomalies with regards to the payment of Rent for Occupying School or Government Bungalow.

The letter further explains that per the Ministry of Finance Circular No. 133385/05/06NTR CAGD of 15th May 2006, every occupant of a government bungalow is expected to pay 10% of their basic salary as rent.

The letter also reminded occupants of government bungalows to pay all their outstanding arrears in order to ensure that a future audit does not create problems for the service and the individuals concerned.
