There was a joyful atmosphere in the various communities of the Offinso Traditional Area in the Ashanti Region.
The joyful development followed the decision taken by the members of Offinso Traditional Council to publicly endorse the National Petroleum Company (GNPC), Dr K.K. Sarpong’s bid to be installed as Offinso Paramount Chief.
The Offinso Traditional Council has endorsed Dr K.K. Sarpong under the stool Kofi Kodua Sarpong.
According to the Traditional Council, Kofi Kodua Sarpong, has brought to the area and a number of laudable development projects and special initiatives and therefore needs to be given a chieftaincy position to do more for the area.
The Council said, the performance of Kofi Kodua Sarpong in the area is unprecedented in and therefore installing him Paramount Chief of the area will enable him to give out all the best in him.
The traditional leaders expressed the conviction that it was instrumentalities of Kofi Kodua Sarpong that the Offinso Traditional Area has enjoyed infrastructural development and other social interventions.
The Kingmakers of the Offinso Traditional Council have unanimously nominated, Kofi Kodua Sarpong, known in private life as Dr K.K. Sarpong as the successor of the late Paramount Chief of the area, Nana Awiafe Akenten III.
The respected Offinso Manhene died on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi where he was receiving treatment after falling ill for some days.
The late Nana Wiafe Akenteng had been the occupant of the Wiafe Akenten traditional stool for 28 years being installed in November 1993.
The kingmakers of the traditional area on Friday 6th May 2022, at a ceremony in Offinso, through Akyeamehene Nana Kwaku Wiafe, presented the former Kumasi Asante Kotoko CEO as the new Paramount Chief for the offinso traditional council.
He will be the third in command in the Ashanti kingdom if he takes the Asanteman oath and becomes chief.
