The police are investigating two soldiers for allegedly raping a nursing student in Damango in the Savannah Region.

The suspects are private Oduro Blessing and private Baba Anthony both of the 155 Armored Regiment.

They allegedly attacked and raped the “victim in turns when she stepped out of her hostel to make a phone call at midnight on 12 June 2022,” a statement from the police said.

“The victim is receiving the needed medical and psychosocial support while investigation continues,” the statement added.

According to the sources, the two soldiers went to the victim’s school on Sunday evening looking for their female friend.

Upon reaching the hostel, an eyewitness said, the victim came out and when they asked her about their female friend, she told them she does not know her and that was “when they forcefully dragged her to a urinary pick and allegedly had an affair with her.”

They were both picked up after an identification parade.

The suspects will be arraigned in court on Tuesday (14 June).
