Asante Kotoko Sporting Club have announced that they will not compete in the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Top 6 tournament, just 24 hours after their head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum resigned.
The pre-season tournament was set to begin in August, with the Ghanaian champions competing for the trophy against Medeama, Bechem United, Great Olympics, Karela United, and long-time rivals Hearts of Oak.
However, Kotoko has withdrawn, announcing their decision on Twitter on Thursday.
“We have this afternoon written officially to GHALCA, informing the welfare body of our decision not to partake in this year’s Ghalca Top Six tournament. Our decision was purely based on sporting reasons.”

GHALCA has yet to respond to Kotoko’s decision.
Kotoko are looking for a new coach to begin preparations for the 2022/23 season, which starts in September.
Ogum who joined Kotoko from WAFA before the start of the 2021/22 season, won the Ghana Premier League with three games to spare.
