Residents of Sefwi Adiembra near Chirano, in the Bibiani Anhwianso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, were thrown in shock on Sunday, February 14, 2021, when a man called Kofi Twene a.k.a Ebeyeyie, 55years, allegedly killed his ex-wife Rose Oppong popularly called Afua Kye at age 38 in a cocoa farm.
Speaking in an interview with Kwame Kontor Boateng on Lord fm, the Sefwi Bekwai District Police Commander, Supt.Martin Ininigan confirmed that between the 13:30 hours and 14:00hours, Michael Nyamekye a.k.a Kwabena 12years, accompanied by a motor rider Bukari Morro received a complaint that the mother, Afua Kye, was called by Ebeyeyie to come and buy pear, but when he accompanied by his mother to the village, met his ex-father and he (Ebeyeyie) asked him to go to the cocoa farm and pick something for him, he left and by his return, he came and met the man hitting his mother with a stick and the mother was on ground struggling.
“So sensing danger that the man might have attached him too,he took to his hails and he(Ebeyeyie)chase him back and he was able to out smart him, got to the roadside and met a motor rider, asked to take him to the police station, and when the complaint was lodged, the police in Sefwi Bekwai immediately move with them to the scene and saw the woman in a pool of blood”.
However, the suspect had already absconded and so the police after taken the necessary evidence took the body to Sefwi Anhwianso Community hospital for preservation, and is on manhunt for the suspect.
Supt. Martin Ininigan, has stated, the case has been forwarded to Bibiani Division, because Adiembra falls within Bibiani district.
The woman left behind seven children.
