Moshake: NDC Must Investigate Mahama’s Flirt With NPP

A former executive of the Tema East constituency branch of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Stephen Ashitey Adjei, has called for a probe into former President John Mahama over what he says is his dodgy allegiance to the party.

In a latest write-up on happenings in the NDC, Mr. Ashitey Adjei who is popularly called Moshake, calls for an investigation into  Mahama’s longtime hobnob with former President John Kufuor and the NPP.

“For years, some of us have been highlighting this strange behaviour of John Mahama but nobody listened. This same Mahama flirt with Kufuor and his NPP is what led to the estrangement of our party founder, Jerry Rawlings and his wife from the party and eventually led to us being kicked out of power in 2016,” Moshake stated.

According to him, “the issue of Mahama’s shady allegiance to the NDC has been sticking out like a sore thumb for a very long time and must be unraveled with an investigation by the party.”

Moshake has been questioning Mr. Mahama’s allegiance for years because of the NDC former leader’s close ties with former President Kufuor, who is said to be a friend of Mr. Mahama’s stepmother, Madam Joyce Tamakloe.

This closeness with Kufuor is said to have led to Mr. Mahama, while he was president, often hanging out with former President Kufuor to the neglect of former President Rawlings.

The story is told of how then President Mahama was holding a secret meeting with former President Kufuor in his house when former President Rawlings suddenly visited and was abandoned on Mahama’s veranda for hours because he did not want Rawlings to know that Kufuor was with him.

Former President Rawlings was said to have eventually left in frustration, an experience that strained relations between him and Mahama.

“It was out of suchlike meetings that Kufuor poured himself into John Mahama, advising him to take decisions that would be detrimental to the NDC and alienate Rawlings,” Moshake wrote.

According to him, “bad decisions such as the refusal to pay teacher and nursing trainee allowances were from Kufuor.”

Moshake adds that Kufuor took advantage of his relationship with Mr. Mahama to poison his mind against Rawlings because he was afraid that the NDC government would prosecute him for corruption under his government from 2001 to 2009.

“For Moshake, while Mahama’s flirt with Kufuor has cost NDC power already, and is therefore bad enough, his problem is that the flirt continues even up to today. This is why it must be investigated and sanctioned. Infact, I love the NDC so much and would not look on hypocritically whiles Mahama and Kufuor’s NPP destroy my party,” Moshake stated.

Additionally, Stephen Ashitey Adjei, further called on the delegates of the party to reject Mr Mahama in the party’s upcoming presidential primary.
