With only five games left in the Access Bank Division One Zone Three League, Heart of Lions Football Club based in Kpandu in the Volta Region, has secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League for next season.
The team boasts a history of producing top-class footballers such as Gladson Awako, John Boye, Gilbert Fiamenyo, Stephen Ahorlu, Haminu Dramani, Sadat Bukari, Dominic Adiyiah, and Togolese Komlan Amewou, among others.
After being relegated from the elite league in 2015, along with Brong Ahafo United and Accra Great Olympics, the team has been vying for a return to the top flight ever since.
Their promotion was finally achieved by clinching the Division One League Zone 3 championship with a comfortable lead of 16 points over second-placed Vision FC, who lost their game to Attram de Visser, and Samper FI, who lost to Na God FC.
Lions are set to face Golden Kicks at the Tema Stadium on Monday afternoon.
