Inject Some Urgency Into The Quest To Finding Lasting Peace In Bawku – Alhaji Musah Gutare.

The National Chairman for Bissa Development Association ( BDA), Alhaji Shaibu Musah Gutare has appealed to the President of Ghana, His Excellency, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo to find lasting peace to Bawku and it’s surrounding communities.

He added that  maintaining the military in Bawku to keep peace is a great idea, but that could not be the only solution to the current problem and government can not continue doing the same thing and expect a different result.Alhaji Shaibu Musah called on the president to form a committee of Eminent Chiefs to mediate in the Bawku crisis as was done in the Dagbon case in order to nib the problem in the bud.

 

 

The National Chairman for Bissa Development Association, Alhaji Shaibu Musah Gutare disclosed this at the 17th “Zekula 2023 festival at Kulungungu in the Pusiga District of the Upper East Region .

 

 

He reiterated the need for peaceful co-existence between Bissa and Kusasi and other minor tribes in Bawku to bring back the glorious days of the Municipality.He indicated that “Zekula” which means unity, is celebrated annually to bring all Bissas and their neighbors and friends in Ghana and beyond together, to celebrate their traditions , cultural heritage and forge for common Development.

 

 

The theme for this year’s Zekula celebration “Promoting peaceful co-existence with neighboring ethnic groups through culture seeks to persuade the youth to embrace their culture and live in peace with one another. Mr Musah added that the theme was carefully chosen due to the deadly conflict that has engulfed the Bawku Municipality and this has led to too many deaths and destruction of property.

 

 

According Mr Musah, it is important for them to recognize that they are already disadvantaged as a people and must not define competition to be between Bissas, Kusasi, Mamprusi, Moshie and the rest of our neighbors but the competition must focus on the rest of country, Africa and the world at large.
