The Ketu South Member of Parliament, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie, went to visit some flooded areas in the constituency over the weekend 10th June, 2023. The areas includes Viepe Electoral Area in Aflao, Agbozume North and South Electoral area, Dagbakope in the Kpoglu Electoral area in Klikor among others.
There have been lots of heavy rains lately, which caused flooding in many communities. This made hundreds of people lose their homes and even closed down some schools and churches.
The MP first went to Viepe Electoral Area in Aflao, then to Agbozume North and South Electoral areas in Agbozume, and then to Dagbakope in the Kpoglu Electoral area in Klikor. She talked to Mr. Samuel Dagba, whose house was destroyed by a big tree as a result of the storm.
After that, Hon Abla Dzifa Gomashie went to Hatsukope primary school and the surrounding areas who were also affected by the flood and schooling is on hold until something is done to remedy the schooling situation. She also visited other affected communities behind the Diamond Cement factory and Ahiatakukope, which were flooded because of streams overflowing from the Republic of Togo.
The MP felt really sorry for the people affected by the floods and appealed to the government to help them out.
She also made a passionate appeal to the Ministries of Works and Housing, Gender, Children and Social Protection, Roads and Highways, as well as the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and Ketu South Municipal Assembly to find a way of helping the affected communities so that this perennial flooding can stop happening.
Before she end her tour, some food items were given to some elderly people in Agbaweame who were affected badly by the floods. The MP also asked the media, companies, and anyone who could help to come and help the people affected by the floods.
