Dan Botwe, Member of Parliament of Okere constituency in the Eastern Region, is backing Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia to become the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He said Bawumia will be a strategic choice for the governing party in the upcoming 2024 elections.
“When it comes to the future of our beloved country, Ghana, the NPP is the only party that can guarantee progress,” Botwe, who doubles as the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, said at a gathering in Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region.
“After much thoughtful consideration and careful analysis, I am confident that the best strategic decision for the NPP is to elect Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as our flagbearer,” he said.
According to him, Bawumia has impeccable record of competence and unwavering loyalty to the NPP and deserves to lead the party into the next general elections.
The NPP will hold its special electoral college election on 26 August to whittle down the number of aspiring candidates to five, before holding the final contest on 4 November, to choose a substantive flagbearer to contest John Mahama of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
