The Patron of the Ashanti Regional TESCON and First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency, John Kwame Duodu (Sir John) has made a passionate appeal to the media fraternity to help propagate the message of peace, harmony, and stability within the NPP in the run-up to the Party’s presidential aspirants election scheduled to take place on November 4, 2023.

He said, “I am sincerely appealing to our friends in the media to help the NPP navigate through this storm successfully and peacefully”.

”The media have a key role to play in the conduct of the forthcoming presidential primaries of the NPP and I humbly urge you to help the Party to maintain the peace and harmony we have enjoyed over the years, Sir John pleaded.

He also used the opportunity to caution the NPP presidential candidates, national and regional party executives, and party supporters and sympathize with actions that have the potential to damage the party’s reputation ahead of the Party’s presidential primaries on November 4, 2023.

As a means of solidifying the Party’s quest of shattering the eight (8)-year rule cycle, Sir John entreated the NPP hierarchy to be more focused on the preservation of love, peace, harmony, and unity among the rank and file of the Party.

”The Party’s youth and the nation’s future leaders will never forgive the current NPP leadership if the Party is sent back into opposition after the 2024 general elections”, Sir John declared.

He also stressed that any unhealthy utterances from the contesting presidential aspirants’ camps could tarnish the Party’s image and as a result, they should exercise decorum and avoid acts that would result in confrontations between the various camps.

Sir John also sent a stern warning to the presidential candidate aspirants who have been making various unsubstantiated attacks on the Party to desist from such acts and also refrain from circulating untruths about the Party to their supporters and the general voting populace at large.

‘Such untruthful statements and indecent attacks could play into the hands of the opposition party and they would use them against our party in 2024 so we need to exercise restraint and curtail these negative tendencies now before it is too late”, he stated.

Sir John ended by urging all Party members to play their roles in monitoring and holding flagbearer hopefuls accountable for their negative public statements against the Party to ensure that these statements do not harm the Party’s fortunes in the 2024 general elections.
