The award scheme seeks to honor outstanding teachers for their exemplary performance and ground-breaking work that have affected and transformed the lives of learners.
It is also aimed at motivating teachers to go beyond the ordinary in their line of work, as the MP throws the spotlight on great teachers and shares their remarkable stories, thereby inspiring and attracting many high-achieving candidates to join the profession.
MP’s Remarks
Mr. George Kwame Aboagye told the media during the vibrant awards ceremony at Akyem Akroso on Friday, November 24, 2023, that he had made the decision to place teachers at the forefront of his educational agenda since he had declared education one of his priorities as MP.
According to him, education is vital to human existence and growth, and teachers play a crucial role in the advancement of their country.
He stated that in order to meet the sustainable development goal of high-quality education, educators need to be appreciated, valued, and provided with adequate resources.
“It is important that those who deliver education are well acknowledged and appreciated. We are all who we are today because of our teachers. Today brings a spotlight on the critical responsibility our teachers bear in ensuring our children enjoy the right quality education despite the limitations. I know your salary is low, but I will support you with funds and resources so you can do the work well.” Oluwa addressed the teachers.
He revealed that his administration is also concentrated on enlarging, improving, and repairing the district’s dilapidated educational infrastructure.
He exhorted all teachers to put up their best efforts to advance both the Asene Manso Akroso constituency and Ghana’s educational systems, adding that teachers on each passing day put in a lot of sacrifices to change the world by building the knowledge and skills of the next generation.
“The provision of logistics and human resource development has also received our envious attention, as seen by the delivery of books, uniforms, sandals, and the planning of mock exams. Our revolutionary objective, in my opinion, cannot succeed if exceptionally gifted but underprivileged youngsters are not given the chance to realize their divinely endowed potential. I will continue to assist students in meeting cost requirements because we solely cannot afford to let any gifted child’s right to an education be denied due to financial constraints.”
In addition, the legislator counseled the parents to assist their kids with homework when they get home.
He explained that he would continue to fight for the interests of his constituents, irrespective of their social, political, or religious inclinations.
Acknowledgment
Mr. Jeff Konadu, the NPP’s Eastern Regional Chairman, who was the special guest of honor, lauded Mr. George Kwame Aboagye for the exemplary service he was providing for the people of the Asene Manso Akroso constituency.
He commended the teachers for their extraordinary work in ensuring that students receive a top-notch education and developing future leaders.
He called educators the cornerstone of Ghana’s education system’s continued support and advancements, emphasizing that their efforts should not be devalued.
Mr. Jeff Konadu said teachers must always be celebrated because they do more than just teach, adding that “teachers mentor children. Many people would not have reached where they are without teachers.”
He added that people must do away with the assertion that teachers received their reward in heaven and see that, as stakeholders in national development, teachers deserve their reward right here on earth.
The Asene Manso Akroso District Director of Ghana Education Service (GES) expressed his utmost gratitude and appreciation to the MP for the kind gesture given to teachers and students in the district in a solidarity message.
On his part, Mr. George Kwame Somuah, GES Director, believes the award scheme is the hallmark of a great leader as an instrument of constructive change with the aim of lifting up the entire district from darkness to light.
He noted that the awardees won based on merit and not benevolence and entreated the awardees to continue with their good work; hence, the awards were to motivate teachers to give out their best in the school.
In addition, he exhorted teachers to continue serving the nation to the best of their abilities, despite any challenges they may face.
He vowed that his organization would keep fighting for the rights and well-being of teachers in order to advance instruction and learning in classrooms.
Speaking on behalf of the Chief of Akyem Akroso, the Gyaasehene of the Akyem Akroso Traditional Council, Nana Anim Darkwah I, extends his sincere gratitude to the MP for this thoughtful act.
He claims that he has never seen anything like it.
He exhorts teachers to keep instructing the kids so they might fulfill their life’s ambitions.
