Ghanaians on Sunday, December 10, 2023, woke up to posters of former Minister for Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Abu-Bakar Siddique Boniface suggesting he was seeking to contest the Madina Constituency seat on the ticket of Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change.
A staunch of the movement Hopeson Adorye first shared the poster on his Facebook page and within minutes it had gone viral.
Though Abu-Bakar Siddique Boniface has not officially responded to the viral flier making the rounds on social media platforms, his assignees claim it is fake and could be a figment of someone’s imagination.
As of Monday, December 11, 2023, a FAKE badge was slapped on the poster indicating it is untrue though it still remained on the page of Mr. Hopeson Adorye who is one of the Director of Operations for the Movement of Change.
A school of thought suggests that the Madina MP who lost the seat in 2020 may only be flying the kite to see the response and gauge if the grounds are fertile for his emergence as an Independent Candidate.
Boniface dismisses ‘fake Madina race flyer’
The former Minister of Inner-Cities and Zongo Development and ex-Member of Parliament for the Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Alhaji Abubakar Saddique Boniface, has urged his supporters to disregard a flyer on social media suggesting his intent to vie for the Madina seat in the 2024 general elections under Mr Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen’s ‘Movement for Change’.
In an exclusive interview with Classfmonline.com, Alhaji Boniface Saddique clarified that the flyer does not align with his political aspirations.
He encouraged his supporters not to give it any credence.
The former legislator disclosed his awareness of the individuals responsible for the misinformation, vowing that their identities will be revealed soon.
Alhaji Saddique Boniface attributed the “misleading” flyer to internal manoeuvres by certain factions within the Movement for Change.
Denying any interest in contesting the Madina seat, he emphasised his commitment to broader aspirations, stating, “The aim of every soldier is to become a General.”
“We have gone past the status of an MP”, he said.
He asserted that it is “entirely false”, underscoring his awareness of the motives behind the spread of such misinformation.
Alhaji Saddique Boniface reassured his supporters that his focus extends beyond parliamentary representation, expressing confidence in their understanding and loyalty.
NPP ‘Sacks’ 4 ‘Butterflies
It would be recalled that the NPP three weeks ago sacked some key members currently supporting Alan Kyerematen for President.
Mr. Alan Kyerematen resigned from the party to form a new movement with a butterfly symbol that will contest the 2024 election as an independent.
In a release by the General Secretary of the Party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, it has taken note of Hopeson Adorye, Yaw Buaben Asamoa, Nana Ohene Ntow and Boniface Abubakar Saddique who clearly support Alan Kyeremateng for President.
This is even though the NPP has an elected flagbearer in the person of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Quoting relevant constitutional provisions, the General Secretary said Hopeson Adorye, Nana Ohene Ntow, Boniface Abubakar Saddique and Yaw Buaben Asamoa have “AUTOMATICALLY FORFEITED” their membership of the Party and are, therefore, “no longer members of the Party.”
Hopeson Adorye a month ago said although he supports Alan Kyerematen for President, he is still a member of the party.
