Board chairman of Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak and , Togbe Afede XIV has launched a scathing attack on the National Sports Authority (NSA) for their decision to close down the Accra Sports Stadium.
In a passionate speech at a press conference on Thursday, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli state did not hold back as he called out the leadership of the NSA.
In November, the NSA announced its decision to close down the Accra Sports Stadium for sports events.
The facility is used by Ghana Premier League clubs Accra Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics and Accra Lions.
Due to the decision, the biggest fixture on the Ghanaian football calendar; Hearts of Oak versus Asante Kotoko, was moved from Accra to Kumasi two weeks ago.
Not available for sports but available for ‘soloku’! The Accra Sports Stadium now hosts musical concerts instead of sports events.
It has however been released for music concerts.
The first of those was a gospel concert that featured musicians such as Joe Mettle and Nigeria’s Nathaniel Bassey.
The facility also hosted dance hall artiste Stonebwoy’s annual “Bhim Concert” last week.
