Nana Obiri-Yeboah Aborampah (OB Yeboah), one of the key contenders in the upcoming ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries in the Asante Akim North Constituency of the Ashanti Region, has bowed out of the contest.
Nana Obiri-Yeboah clarified in a statement that was copied to MyGhanaMedia.com that he went to great lengths to pick the nomination forms, but the party executives were unwilling to provide the documents to him.
He claims that this is the reason he is unable to continue running in the NPP parliamentary primary for the Asante Akim North Constituency.

Anuanom team preinformed the picking of nomination forms to its cherished followers who desire to see change and development of Asante Akim North Constituency.
The desire of Nana Obiri-Yeboah Aborampah (OB Yeboah) team is strong and vigilant in the pursuit of their dreams to the high office of Member of Parliament for the constituency.
On 23rd Dec 2023, the team based on their integrity fulfilled its promise to the party office to pick their nomination forms.
Upon they assembling at the party office, noticed the premises was closed and officials were unavailable.
This single act was against the directives from the Head office of the party.
The teas followed up within two days in order to pick up the forms before the due time of the exercise elapses.
With unwavering effort and follow-up calls, the team was informed that the forms were not out of the sale.
OB-Yeboah had in the previous day acquired the bank draft to present in exchange for the nomination forms. Due to circumstances, date and time caught up on the team and therefore would not purchase the forms leading to OB-Yeboah also not being able to file to join the race in 2024.
Per the directives of the party, nomination forms were meant to be purchased from the constituency office. One can go ahead to the regional office if there is clear evidence of hindrance in picking the nomination forms from the constituency. What happened in cases you don’t have any form of evidence?
Forms could be similarly retrieved through the official website by payment of mobile money. What happens to hopefuls who have already made the draft and are not ready to do double payments?
We thought the party instructed the officers to make themselves available in the five-day frame to allow any party faithful who wished to pick nomination forms to have access to do so.
These logical questions have to be answered.
Why then was the party office closed for some periods/ days within the five days?
Why was the constituency executive (the secretary) doing hide and seek with the office?
Why should the constituency secretary decide to communicate a shortage of forms while only five hopefuls have picked out of the alleged eight forms provided by regional?
The team and their leader as vessels of peace have decided to let this slide for the sake of peace and unity.
But we do advise and caution the orchestrators of this ‘elimination by rough tactics’ should desist from this act, because such an act will only bring disunity.
We apologize to all that this single act which has forcefully taken OB-Yeboah and his team out of the race will affect to take heart and remain determined.
OB-Yeboah is capable and committed to the responsibilities that lie ahead.
Better days are coming, the team remains resilient and resolute.
OB-Yeboah and his team still have a keen interest in the upcoming intense primaries in Asante Akyem North.
We will in the coming days decide among the hopefuls who is best to replace OB-Yeboah.
