Supporters of Lawyer Eric Owusu Mensah, a prominent contender in the forthcoming New Patriotic Party parliamentary primary in the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, have conveyed their dissatisfaction with the vandalism of their candidate’s billboard by certain unidentified NPP members in the Akyem Anyinase.
The irate supporters’ spokesperson, Samuel Agyei Donkor, also known as “Raby,” said that they are shocked and disappointed that members of the same NPP party are running for office and that some individuals have chosen to demolish a certain candidate’s billboard.
As a result, he has urged the national and Eastern regional NPP executives to summon all of the party’s members in the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency to order.
He said that the party executives should explain to individuals who have chosen to demolish a particular candidate’s billboard that they are all members of the same party and that they do not need to battle each other in the primary in order to break the eight.

Foster Kojo Frimpong, the NPP’s first vice chairman for the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency, added by saying that he was horrified and saddened to witness the billboard of lawyer Eric Owusu Mensah being demolished by unidentified individuals who believed to be NPP members.
Foster Kojo Frimpong said “I was shocked and disappointed seeing the billboard of Lawyer Eric Owusu Mensah being destroyed by unknown persons who I believe to be people from the NPP party.”
He cautioned that as the party is committed to breaking the eight, all supporters of the three candidates should refrain from engaging in such unscrupulous behavior.
Some of the youth who back Lawyer Eric Owusu Mensah also expressed their displeasure over the billboard being vandalized.
As the NPP braces for primaries, this unexpected act of vandalism raises concerns about internal cohesion and the party’s ability to “break the eight” in the upcoming elections.
The call for unity within the party has now taken center stage, stressing the importance of a peaceful and collaborative electoral process.
There are two candidates ( Maxwell Osei-Gyamerah and Eric Owusu-Mensah) running against the current Member of Parliament, Hon. Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, who is also the Minister of Information.
