The Bibiani-Anwhiaso-Bekwai Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education, Mrs. Martha Nneka Opara, says Ghana’s independence became more concentrated and robust after the implementation of the 1992 constitution.
She pointed out that the constitution determines the nation’s post-independence development.
She argues that the 1992 Constitution, which has granted citizens certain fundamental human rights and kept the nation from devolving into anarchy, is the oldest in the nation’s history.
Mrs. Martha asked Ghanaians to uphold the constitution since it has contributed to the maintenance of peace in the country.
On the other hand, Nneka Opara noted that Ghanaians most often embrace negativity, act in a way that is a colonial mindset, and engage in multiple actions that have a bearing on the country.
When we are at fault, we should all let the law work its course and preserve the nation, guarding it fiercely and reporting bribe-takers, especially in government organizations.
She stated that we are not always equal before the law in Ghana; this is not a fault with the constitution; rather, it is with those of us who must apply it and uphold Ghana’s reputation.
