The Ghana Football Association says it has dissolved the entire technical team of the senior national team, the Black Stars, after the poor showing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
It means Chris Hughton is leaving together with his two assistants George Boateng and Didi Dramani, goalkeepers’ coach Richard Kingston and others.
Ghana needed to win their final group game against Mozambique but conceded two goals in added time to draw 2-2 and crash out.
This followed the 2-1 loss to Cape Verde and the 2-2 draw to Egypt in their second Group B game and ultimately finished the tournament third with two points.
“The Ghana Football Association wishes to announce that Chris Hughton has been relieved of his duties as head coach of the senior National team with immediate effect,” a statement from the GFA said.
“The Executive Council has also taken a decision to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars.
“The Ghana Football Association will in the coming days provide a roadmap on the future direction of the Black Stars.”
Chris Hughton was appointed Ghana head coach in March 2023 after serving as Technical Advisor for a year.
He has taken charge of 12 games in his almost one-year duration as Ghana coach, winning four games, drawing four and losing four times.
