The New Patriotic Party (NPP) incumbent Member of Parliament for Akim Swedru, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko has given out Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment to three (3) basic schools in the Birim South district to promote teaching and learning.
The equipment, which included 150 tablets, 3 laptops, 12 charging cabinets, 3 cabinets for keeping the tablets, 3 projectors, 30 electronic kits, and robotic tools, are expected to assist in making Information and Communication Technology (ICT) more practical and effective in the three (3) schools since most schools in the constituency either do not have a computer laboratory or lacked computers.
This gesture further demonstrates the lawmakers’ support for the education system in the area
At the district education directorate on Thursday, January 25, 2024, the MP gave the equipment to the education director so that it could be distributed to the schools.
Aduasa United Basic School, Awisa Presby Basic School, and St. Agatha’s Girls Basic School will receive the equipment and every school will be given 50 tablets, and every ICT teacher will receive a laptop.
Prior to the intervention, the legislator Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, clarified in an interview with Daily Searchlight that some of the public schools in the district had been lacking computers and other ICT-Equipment for a while, which had a detrimental effect on the instructors and students during ICT-Lessons.
He stated that the world has become a global village and that access to the internet and other technological devices is critical to learning new skills.
He expressed optimism that the support would help to improve ICT in schools.
He noted that quality education was an integral component of development in any society and pledged to prioritize education in the area.
According to him, there are many ongoing activities in the constituency to help uplift public schools to a higher standard.
In order to improve their ICT proficiency, he thus exhorts educators and students to take maximum advantage of the resources that are available.
With the goal to foster creativity and empower students to develop things for themselves, he said that all elementary schools needed computers. He also asked school administrators and teachers to make sure that the equipment is kept up and used properly.
Sintim Henry Theodore, the Birim South Education Director, praised the MP for his unwavering support of education.
He claims that the district’s education system has improved significantly thanks to the efforts of the MP, Osei Nyarko Kennedy, popularly known as Adwumawura, which has helped the district place second in the Eastern Region Education Ladder.
He continued by saying that the MP is fully committed to providing ICT centers to all public schools in the constituency in order to improve the teaching and learning of the topic, which has emerged as the focal point for advancements in global technology.
He expressed his happiness with the caliber of the ICT tools and accessories that were given to them and pledged to take good care of them so that more pupils might utilize them in the future.
