How NPP Delegates Voted In The Ashanti Region Parliamentary Polls – Full Results

Disappointment and surprise marked the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries on Saturday, January 27, as several prominent incumbents saw their bids for re-election dashed.

Seventeen (17) incumbent MPs retained their positions, with eight (8) incumbents losing in the Ashanti Region.

In a major upset, former Minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah, was ousted in the Atwima Mponua constituency. Challenger Mr Seth Osei Akoto, the Director of Crop Services Directorate at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), cruised to victory with 375 votes against Asiamah’s 330 votes.

Similarly, Juaben Constituency witnessed a stunning defeat for Ama Pomaa Boateng, the sitting MP and Deputy Communications Minister. A Minerals Consultant, Francis Owusu-Akyaw, secured a convincing win with 334 of the total votes, leaving Pomaa with only 120.

The Atwima Nwabiagya South Constituency also saw a change of guard, with incumbent Hon Emmanuel Agyei Anwhire narrowly losing to Madam Shirley Maame Tiwaa Kyei, Deputy CEO for the Minerals Commission. She garnered 395 votes, compared to Agyei Anwhire’s 209 and COP (Retired) George Tuffuor polled 324 votes.

The incumbent Member of Parliament for Subin, Eugene Boakye Antwi, has lost his bid to represent the Subin Constituency. He polled 103 votes while Kofi Obiri Yeboah polled 734 votes to win the parliamentary primary.

In the Bosome Freho constituency, the incumbent, Akwasi Darko Boateng, has lost the parliamentary primary to Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh. Akwasi Darko Boateng polled 187 votes while Nana Kwame Asafo-Adjei Ayeh polled 233 votes.

Incumbent Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta Constituency, George Kwabena Obeng Takyi, has been defeated in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary held on Saturday, January 27. He lost to Tweneboah Kodua Fokuo who polled 281 votes while Obeng Takyi polled 26 votes.

The incumbent MP and Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Augustine Collins Ntim, has been defeated in the NPP Parliamentary Primary in Offinso North. He secured 231 votes, while Fred Kyei Asamoah emerged victorious with 371 votes.

Incumbent Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi faced a competitive race in the Odotobri constituency, securing 292 votes. However, it was Anthony Mmieh who emerged victorious with 340 votes.
