Significantly, Mr. Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, who was running for the parliamentary candidacy in the Akyem Swedru constituency of the Eastern Region, has graciously conceded his defeat in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) primaries, held on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
Mr. Kwaning-Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant General, expressed confidence in the election’s impartiality and openness.
He called on party members to set aside their differences from the primaries and work together for victory in the general elections in 2024.
“I thank the delegates and the entire Akyem Swedru constituency. Let us unite and exert great effort to ensure that the Elephant Party maintains its position of power in the country, as the delegates have made their decision, which we respect”, Mr. Bosompem remarked.
He stated, “We’re going to put in an endless effort to support Dr. Bawumia, our flagbearer and vice president, towards breaking the eight.”
According to him, Ghanaians must grant the New Patriotic Party another term in office since they are the only party capable of developing the country.
He also advises his supporters to avoid “skirts and blouses” in the upcoming elections.
After a tough primary, incumbent MP Kennedy Osei was victorious to become the NPP’s elected parliamentary candidate for the 2024 general elections.
Of the total votes cast, Kennedy Osei obtained 194; Mr. Kwaning-Bosompem grabbed 94; and Okyere Jerome Kwame polled 10 votes.
