The Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) Drivers are appealing to the government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo , the inspector General of Police (IGP) Oppong Boanu and other authorities to come to their aid immediately with the help to reduce the consistance increases of taxing from the police officers on the roadsides.
According to the union, they always run lost especially those on the long journey, they always paid an amount not less than 5cedis on each barrier on the road which is costing them a lot.
Addressing the media by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of Progressive Transport Owners Association (PROTOA) , Mr Joseph Mensah he stated that, the increases of fuel price and increases of other taxes is affecting the transport operaters .
Again, spare parts and other goods are keeps on increasing which is also one of their major problem which is confronting them.
He also added that, the 2021 budget contains a number of taxes which is affecting their operations.
They therefore appealing to the government to come in immediately to increase the transport fares for drivers so that they can also achieve their goals and also do something about the police officers issue in the country.
