The Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH) has issued a fervent appeal to the Electoral Commission of Ghana, urging the reinstatement of the indelible ink for the forthcoming 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
Expressing deep concerns over recent disputes and violence during the Parliamentary primaries, ADAM-GH emphasized the pivotal role of the indelible ink in safeguarding the integrity and credibility of electoral outcomes. Despite the introduction of various reforms over the years, the indelible ink has remained a steadfast component, effectively curbing incidences of double voting and ensuring the sanctity of elections.
ADAM-GH underscored the alarming implications of the Electoral Commission’s decision to discontinue the use of indelible ink, citing the potential for increased disputes and compromises in the upcoming general elections. To address this pressing issue, the organization has proposed to absorb the entire budget for the procurement of indelible ink, reaffirming its commitment to upholding democratic principles and preserving Ghana’s status as a beacon of democracy.
In light of these developments, ADAM-GH awaits the Electoral Commission’s prompt response, urging swift action to enhance the credibility of the 2024 elections and consolidate democratic gains. The organization has also extended copies of its proposal to the Office of the Speaker of Parliament and the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning, signaling a concerted effort to garner support for their cause.

SUBMIT THE BUDGET ON THE INDELIBLE INK FOR US TO PAY AHEAD OF THE 2024 PRESIDENTIAL AND PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS:
Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement Ghana (ADAM-GH) is a civil society organization that anchors proper democratic principles.
We have monitored elections in Ghana and have realized that elections have actually undergone numerous reforms all in the bid to safeguard the credibility and integrity of our elections through free, fair and transparent practices since 1992 when the country returned to a democratic rule. The integrity of our electoral outcome as a representation of the true will of the people remains non-negotiable and at the heart of ensuring this is the application of the “Indelible Ink” which has remained a constant feature in the face of all the reforms our electoral process have had to undergo over the years.
Incidence of double voting and by extension over voting have significantly been dealt with in most electoral exercises and therefore protects the sanctity of those elections. Not even the introduction of the Biometric verification devices and Coloured photo identification cards could phase out the application of the indelible ink. We are hereby emphasizing the importance of this segment to the entire voting process.
It therefore comes as a shock to ADAM-GH when your outfit pushed for the removal of the use of the indelible ink from our electoral process in the 2024 general elections when there has not been any justifiable cause for such a decision. What comes into sharp focus informing our decision to request to absorb the entire budget of the Indelible Ink is the unfortunate incident in the Yendi constituency last weekend during the just ended Parliamentary primaries and other areas during which violence broke out due to disputes over the electoral results even when there was application of indelible ink. This is an election conducted with the use of the indelible ink and yet the results are so much into dispute leading to the vandalisation of electoral materials, assault of electoral officers and compromising the security at the polling station leaving the police on duty helpless.
This unfortunate incident certainly is a microcosm of what will be happening in the General Elections should the decision not to use the indelible ink be made to stand. It is against this background that Anchoring Democracy Advocacy Movement-Ghana (ADAM-GH) a civil society organization that anchors proper Democratic principles wish to make a proposal to the Electoral Commission to furnish us a budget for the procurement of an indelible ink for the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections come December 2024 . ADAM-GH is committed to making full payment of your budget for the indelible ink to be used in December general elections.
This is an intervention we strongly believe will go a long way to enhance the credibility of the elections 2024 and further consolidate the democratic gains as our bragging rights, Ghana being a beacon of Democracy globally since 1992.
Waiting for your earliest response with an attached budget for the indelible ink.
