The incumbent Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North and the former Deputy Minister for Education in charge of Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET), Hon. Gifty Twum-Ampofo, have stated that the government has made investments in TVET education to better equip the nation’s youth for the future.
She says that the TVET that the government is funding is a problem-solving TVET rather than a textbook TVET.
She stated that the government has set up a Ghana skills development fund to support graduates, so they won’t be passing their resumes around offices in search of work.
Mrs. Gifty Twum-Ampofo adds that the fund’s purpose is to assist people who have banded together to use their abilities to establish their businesses.
She argues that because people who receive funding from the Skill Fund to build industries are also going to employ others, it will help reduce the unemployment rate.
As per her statement on the floor of parliament, TVET Ghana has the potential to decrease the importation of certain products due to the upcoming influx of skilled laborers who can aid in the production of those items.
She came to the conclusion that Ghana will advance because of the significant investments made in human resources by President Akufo-Addo and his vice president, Dr. Bawumia.
