President Akufo-Addo Appoints Abronye DC, Others To Newly Constituted TOR Board; Kofi Mocumbi Tagoe As MD

Kwame Baffoe Abronye, a seasoned energy professional and the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, has been appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akumfo-Addo to the board of directors of Tema Oil Refinery Company Limited (TOR).

With a wealth of experience in the energy industry, Abronye DC is an expert in petroleum economics, finance, and law.

In addition to master’s degrees in Energy Economics from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Ghana, he holds an MBA in Petroleum Economics and Finance from Coventry University in the United Kingdom.

Abronye is presently enrolled at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands to pursue an advanced LLM in Energy Law. He is currently employed in Amsterdam by GPH Oil as an energy consultant.

The President also nominated Leon Kendon Appenteng as the Chairman of the Board and Mr. Kofi Mocumbi Tagoe as the Managing Director of the Company.

This was announced in a statement on March, 18 signed by Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante.

The other nominated persons are; Dr. Antoinette Tsiboe-Darko, Mrs. Edith Sapara-Grant, Nana Aka Bakoma Prempeh, Mrs. Lorraine Crabbe Ababio, Mr. Joseph Mensah Browne, Mr. Alfred George Thompson, Mr. Paul Kwaku Kyei Ofori, and Mr. Herbert Ato Morrison.

The president’s nomination is a component of larger initiatives to revitalise Ghana’s faltering oil refinery.

“Kindy take the necessary steps to give immediate effect on these nominations in accordance
with the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and the Regulations of the Company,” the statement read.
