President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwaa as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Birim Central Municipal Assembly in the Eastern region
This was contained in a statement signed by the Minister-designate for the Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development, and Representative of the President, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah.
According to the statement, the nomination is in line with Article 243(1) of the 1992 Constitution and is awaiting Assembly confirmation.
H. E. the President in accordance with Article 243 (1) of the 1992 Constitution and Section 20 (1) of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) has nominated the undermentioned person to the office of Municipal Chief Executive, pending approval by the Birim Central Municipal Assembly.”
This comes after the termination of the appointment of the Assembly’s previous MCE, Madam Victoria Adu
In a statement released on Friday, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah directed the Eastern Regional Minister to work with the regional election commission to expedite Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwaa’s confirmation procedure.
“In view of the above, you are kindly requested to liaise with the Regional Electoral Commission to conduct the confirmation process of the nominated Chief Executive. I count on your usual cooperation,” Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah stated.
