The President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Birim Central Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has been approved by Assembly members on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
The nominee, Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwaa, was overwhelmingly confirmed during the voting process after securing 100% of the total 26 votes.
After securing the victory, the Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, expressed gratitude to Assembly members for their votes in his speech and indicated the decision taken would help set the assembly’s activities on the right footing for accelerated development.
He added that the confirmation of the nominee would also facilitate the development agenda of the Akufo-Addo-led government, as the MCE is going to take full responsibility for the assembly’s activities enshrined in the constitution.
Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwaa, in her remarks, expressed gratitude to the members for their overwhelming votes and called for their collaborative support to advance the development of the municipality.
She pledged to ensure the municipality gets its fair share of the national cake and called for support from constituents.
The election was smoothly conducted by the Electoral Commission and attended by the Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, and other party executives.
Alexander Akwasi Acquah, who is also the Deputy Minister Designate for Health, expressed appreciation to the Assembly members for having confidence in the presidential nominee and endorsing her.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong, immediately swore Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwa into office.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo nominated Joyce Adjoa Agyeiwaa to be the Birim Central Municipal Assembly’s Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) on March 3, 2024.
This follows the termination of Madam Victoria Adu’s appointment as the previous MCE of the Assembly on March 19, 2024.
