The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has served notice of a rainstorm accompanied by strong winds over parts of southern Ghana, including the surrounding marine areas.

In a notice issued on June 7, GMet said that the rainstorm is likely to be accompanied by moderate to strong winds, which could break tree branches and damage weak structures.

“Flash floods are anticipated over low-lying areas; therefore, avoid walking or driving in flood waters,” the notice read.

According to GMet, this weather condition results from a moderate rainstorm propagating from southern Benin into Togo, with a significant portion of it affecting the ocean.

GMet stated that the rainstorm is expected to move westwards, inducing cloudiness and producing thunderstorms or rain.

The areas anticipated to experience moderate impact include Ho, Hohoe, Aflao, Denu, Keta, Aktatsi, Adidome, Agbozume, Sogakope, Sege, Ada Foah, Prampram, Dawhenya, Accra, Tema, Madina, Dodowa, Ablekuma, Pokuase and surroundings.

Koforidua, Akim Oda, Abetifi, Kwahu, Kumasi, Obuasi, Ejura Winneba, Afransi and Odoben areas are expected to be slightly affected.

Meanwhile, Cape Coast, Mankesim, Twifo Hemang, Elmina, Saltpond, Takoradi, Axim, Prestea, Enchi and sourroundings are likely to experience minimal impact from the weather conditions.
