Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s contributions to Ghana and Africa at large are immeasurable. His vision and efforts laid the foundation for our nation’s independence and progress. Hon. Joseph Archibald unequivocally reaffirms his respect and admiration for Dr. Nkrumah, acknowledging his pivotal role in shaping Ghana’s history. It is essential to honor his legacy and continue building upon the principles he championed.

The recent remarks made by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh regarding Dr. Nkrumah have sparked significant reactions.

However, it is important to understand the context in which these comments were made.

Speaking on an NPP platform, Dr. Opoku Prempeh intended to align with the party’s current narrative and show support for the administration.

During his unveiling in Kumasi on Tuesday, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, popularly called NAPO, asserted that no president, including Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has developed Ghana like President Akufo-Addo has done since 2017.

“Since independence from 1957 till today, we have not had any president that has helped Ghana like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. I say from 1957 till today, you can bring your Kwame Nkrumah… no president who has protected Ghana and moved the country forward like Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” NAPO said to a cheering gathering.
His comments were a form of political hyperbole, not meant to diminish Dr. Nkrumah’s legacy, but rather to emphasize the achievements of the present government.

Reacting to Dr. Opoku Prempe’s statement, a prominent entrepreneur and politician with Ghana’s ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Joseph Archibald emphasizes that Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s primary goal has always been to advance Ghana’s development through his roles in education and energy. His dedication to public service is evident in his numerous contributions to the nation’s progress. It is crucial to focus on the broader context of his work and not let one statement overshadow his positive impact.

Unity and constructive dialogue are essential in addressing national issues. Hon. Archibald urges all Ghanaians to come together and engage in respectful discussions, finding common ground to benefit the entire nation. It is through understanding and collaboration that we can foster a cohesive and progressive society.

Hon. Archibald also underscores the importance of preserving our nation’s historical legacy. Dr. Nkrumah’s vision for a free and prosperous Ghana continues to inspire generations. Hon. Archibald calls on all leaders and citizens to uphold the values of integrity, respect, and forward-thinking leadership as we navigate the complexities of modern governance.

In conclusion, Hon. Joseph Archibald stands firm in his commitment to honoring Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy and fostering a spirit of unity and progress in Ghana. He believes that through collaboration and mutual respect, we can achieve the vision of a prosperous and united nation, building on the foundation laid by our esteemed forefathers.
