2024 Presidential Debate: NDC MP Threatens To Protest Against Mahama If….

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has announced that he will stage a protest should former President John Dramani Mahama agree to debate vice president and presidential candidate for the  New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

Dr. Apaak, who served as a presidential staffer under Mr. Mahama when he was president, opined that Dr. Bawumia is not fit to debate Mr. Mahama.

He criticized Dr. Bawumia for calling the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate an empty barrel and then demanding a debate with him.

Dr. Bawumia, the candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has accused Mr. Mahama of refusing to debate him because he has made empty promises. During the second phase of his nationwide campaign tour, Dr. Bawumia visited Nalerigu on July 11, 2024, where he addressed party supporters and sympathizers, revealing that John Mahama and NDC communicators are struggling to explain the party’s 24-hour economy mantra.

The Vice President added that he will not relent in making his transformative policies known to all Ghanaians in order to be voted into power on December 7, 2024, when the entire country is expected to elect a leader best fit for the masses.

Dr. Bawumia said, “I am looking forward to a debate with John Dramani Mahama on the economy and governance, but I am afraid he is running away from a debate, and his people say he doesn’t want to debate. He says he doesn’t want to debate because he knows that I will expose the emptiness of his policies.”

He continued, “He says he has a 24-hour economy policy that he cannot explain; it is as empty as an empty barrel. None of his people can explain it, and they say they will be exporting lions and elephants.”

He further noted, “When we meet man-to-man, we can debate, and the country will see where our policies lie. Give the country an opportunity to listen to us. But if he chooses not to debate, I will continue to sell my policies to the people of Ghana, and you will make the decision.”

However, Dr. Apaak responded by describing Dr. Bawumia as a certified pathological liar. He also questioned why Dr. Bawumia would be “crying” for a debate with someone he perceives as an empty barrel.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Dr. Apaak said it is not even prudent for anyone to debate a liar, and should Mr. Mahama agree to debate him, he will stage a protest.

“The certified pathological liar had the impudence to call JDM an ’empty barrel’ because of a debate? If you say he is empty, why are you crying because he will not debate you? If JDM agrees to debate DMB, I will organize a protest. Why would anyone debate a liar?”
