Akyem Swedru MP Meets Constituents To Discuss Myriad Of Problems

The people of Akyem Swedru Constituency in the Eastern Region had a rare opportunity to meet their Member of Parliament (MP) and other key players to discuss the issues confronting the area and chart a common way forward.

In an unprecedented move, the Member of Parliament for the area and chairman of the Roads and Transport Parliamentary Committee, Mr. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, arranged two-day breakfast meetings to address a wide range of constituency issues.

The legislator had breakfast talks with the chiefs, pastors, youth group leaders, basic school teachers, health workers, and traders in the constituency on Monday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 16, 2024.

The meetings were aimed at disseminating information to the people and taking feedback.

The Member of Parliament (MP) was accompanied by the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Birim South, Mr. Kwame Asare-Danso.

Improvement of the Health and Education Sectors

Opening the meeting with the basic school teachers and the health workers, Mr. Kennedy said that the breakfast meeting was his government’s effort to decentralize the system, adding that the platform was non-partisan to discuss the issues confronting the area.

The legislator says that the constituency has witnessed significant improvement as a result of his enormous efforts, particularly in the fields of health and education.

 

 

He continued, saying that although his performance as the constituency’s MP has enhanced, there are nonetheless numerous things he ought to do to advance the health and education sectors.

He went on to say that he would stop at nothing to complete his excellent work for the teachers and health professionals, and he would ask the leaders of the institutions to provide him with all the information he needed to know, especially about the obstacles that he was unaware of.

 

 

In his opinion, providing him with the information will enable him to address the issues and enhance the general wellness of educators, students, and medical professionals, in addition to improving the constituents’ access to higher-quality healthcare.

 

 

Youth Employment

Mr. Kennedy Osei Nyarko, who is also the 2024 New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary candidate (PC), said employment of the youth is his topmost priority during his meeting with the leaders of the youth groups.

He says that he has assisted countless youths in obtaining employment, as well as assisting others with their academics, transportation businesses, and artistic endeavours.

 

Mr. Kennedy expresses the necessity of helping the unemployed youth.

He pledged to continue sponsoring the youth willing to acquire vocational skills in a bid to reduce the unemployment challenges bedevilling the constituents.

He stated that once the youth are gainfully employed, violence and crime rates will reduce.

He went on to say that the youth should cast a sizable vote for him and his party in the next general election because he has a greater vision for the youth, which will improve their standard of living.

 

 

Helping Hand To Traders

Along with financial support and the construction of more market facilities, the MP pledged to assist the traders, notably the market women.

 

 

 

Appeal To Religious And Traditional Leaders

Mr. Kennedy Osei Nyarko asked the religious and traditional leaders not to exclude themselves from the governance process but to continually offer constructive criticism, guidance, prayers, and innovative ideas to speed up the process of constituency-building and conflict resolution.

He exhorted them to vote overwhelmingly for him and the presidential candidate for the NPP, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, in the next elections, citing the significant progress the constituency had observed. All interested parties were welcome to voice their opinions about the performance of the MP and his governing government.

 

Many of the individuals who spoke to MyGhanaMedia.com,  thought that although the MP has done better, more work still needs to be done.

 

They also conveyed their appreciation to the MP for setting up this kind of event.
