Transformative Leadership: Team Aaron’s Vision for Medical Student Association

In a captivating presentation, Team Aaron, consisting of Aaron Denkyi Ankomah and Doreen Okohbea, delivered an inspiring manifesto for the presidency of the Medical Student Association (MSA).

Celebrating a decade of progress since the first batch of graduates, their vision and policies promise transformative changes in student leadership within the medical school community.

A Vision for Excellence and Inclusivity

Aaron Denkyi Ankomah highlighted their mission to foster excellence, collaboration, and the realization of every student’s potential. Their vision, “Global Vision with a Local Impact,” aims to build a supportive and forward-thinking association, empowering members academically and professionally.

Innovative Academic Policies

The EDUCARE Academic Policy addresses financial and educational challenges. Short-term goals include increasing scholarship awareness and application support, while long-term goals involve securing dedicated support for financially challenged students. They plan to expand exchange opportunities, establish tutorial support for first-year students, and improve library infrastructure.

Capacity Building for Growth

Team Aaron focuses on enhancing students’ skills through workshops, revamping the MSA debate society, and supporting student entrepreneurs via partnerships with NGOs and the UCC School of Business. The Women’s Commissioner (WOCOM) office aims to promote gender diversity and address challenges faced by women.

Welfare and Entertainment Initiatives

The MSA Project Fund will allocate 10% of funds into a dedicated investment for financial sustainability and member welfare. Additional plans include an end-of-year cocktail party with alumni, improved campus accommodations, and fitness sessions to promote bonding.

Health Policy and Emergency Support

Team Aaron proposes a blood donation initiative with CCTH, expanded vaccination drives, and an emergency health committee for student crises, demonstrating their commitment to member health and safety.

A Call to Action

Emphasizing the importance of experienced leadership, Team Aaron’s slogan, “Action aba fie ha,” urges informed and decisive choices for the association’s future. Their visionary approach and comprehensive policies promise to revolutionize student leadership, creating a vibrant, supportive Medical Student Association. As the election approaches, students face a critical decision shaping their association’s future.
