The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has responded to accusations from Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Soale Jewu Soale, the King of the Gonja kingdom, regarding a ban preventing him from entering all palaces within the Gonja kingdom.
The King had also alleged that Jinapor posed a threat to peace and unity in Gonjaland.
According to him, Yagbonwura Bui Kunuto Soale Jewu expressed his displeasure and disappointment with him for failing to facilitate the arrest of certain Gonja Chiefs as reported by Myjoyonline.com.
Abu Jinapor emphasized that these refusals were the true reasons behind the King’s actions, rather than any genuine threat to the region’s peace and unity.

Yagbonwura’s Ban on Abu Jinapor
On July 21, the Paramount Chief of Gonjaland, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I, issued a decree banning Lands Minister Samuel Abdulai Jinapor from entering all palaces within the Gonja kingdom.
This decision was announced following what the Yagbonwura described as a breach of tradition and respect.
This comes after the traditional leaders in West Gonja accused the minister of interfering in traditional matters in the area.
According to them, the continuous interference of the MP in matters that should be handled within traditional frameworks tends to cause widespread discontent and disaffection among the people.
In a press conference, the Yagbonwura’s interpreters emphasized the gravity of the situation, warning that any chief who defies the ban would face severe consequences.
