Mr. Joseph Danser, the Executive Director of the Center for Skilled Unemployment Ghana (CESU-GH), has endorsed the 24-Hour Economic policy espoused by the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama to revamp the country’s ailing economy.

Unemployment is a worldwide phenomenon which has also affected Ghana’s unfortunate youth.

The Centre for Skilled Unemployment (CeSU)-Ghana, in partnership with the Greater Accra Regional Forum, a wing organ of the main opposition party, the NDC, organised a consensus forum ‘Government Support For Businesses Forum’ to address the economic situation immediately prior to and following the 2024 general elections.

The public forum was under the theme “24 Hour Economy, Impact of Government Support for Businesses.”

Delivering a speech to students at Ghana Communication and Technology University (GCTU), Mr Danser emphasized the pressing issue of high unemployment rates among graduates in Ghana.

He said this is a problem that significantly impacts the youth and middle class across the country.

As a former student leader, entrepreneur, and advocate for employment opportunities, Mr Danser highlighted the importance of establishing an advocacy group to push for the reality of the 24-hour economy.

This group aims to represent skilled unemployed graduates who frequently face unfulfilled promises from political leaders, he stated.

He criticized the government’s reliance on short-term contracts, which are presented as job creation initiatives but ultimately pose economic challenges and threaten national security.

In a related interview, Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, who is the former Deputy minister of local government and Minister of Youth and sports criticized the governing New Patriotic Party(NPP), accusing them of failing to build a better Ghana and instead destroying the economic foundations laid by former President John Dramani Mahama.

Mr Ankrah argued that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Nana Akufo-Addo have deceived Ghanaians, resulting in unaffordable prices for essential foodstuffs due to high inflation.

He pointed out that items such as yam, plantain, rice, vegetable oil, and tomatoes have become prohibitively expensive due to poor economic management.

Mr Ankrah urged Ghanaians to vote for the NDC in the 2024 elections, promising that under their leadership, Ghana would rise again and overcome the current economic challenges.

The immediate past director of elections for the NDC discusses the accomplishments of the previous government led by former President John Dramani Mahama, the current flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress Party, and future plans for the ’24-hour economy’.

Dr. Nene Adams Kotey, a financial economist and lecturer at the University of Professional Studies (UPS), additionally encouraged students to be confident in Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy.

Dr. Adams emphasised that the anticipated economic policy will be used to boost national growth.

Even though the current economic situation is unfavourable, he believes that by the time they graduate from school in 2025 and beyond, the state economy system will be stable.

He stated that John Mahama is a committed and visionary leader in whom everyone must put their trust and follow his campaign.
