A non-governmental organisation (NGO) has donated assorted items worth millions of Ghana cedis to Jesus Christ Women and Children’s Home at Atwima Denkyemboaso within the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The items included bags of rice, cooking oil, spaghetti, biscuits, drinks, soaps, detergents, toiletries, sanitary items, maize, and others.
Presenting the items to the orphanage, the Executive Director of Kindness Heart Organisation, Mr. Lie-Ciu-Micheal, said the donation formed part of their contribution to nation-building and the well-being of the orphan and needy children.
He said the wellbeing of children was at his heart and believed the items would help relieve the pressure on the management of the home.
“It is sad to come across people (especially kids) who have lost their parents and do not experience parental warmth; therefore, getting close to them, showing them affection, and putting smiles on their faces make them feel loved,” he added.
Mr. Lie-Ciu-Micheal stressed that part of his organisation was to bring happiness to every person within the sound of his voice, adding that, even though he had been embarking on such worthy causes, he’s determined to donate to more homes in the coming years.
The communication director of the Kindness Heart Organisation, Mr. Solomon Kojo Antwi, said they have been donating for a very long time, and a lot of children’s homes have benefited from them.
Mr. Kojo Antwi, in an interview with Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame, urged parents not to leave the academic activities of their wards in the hands of their teachers only.
According to him, parents should equally have a critical role to ensure that the best foundation built for their children was education.
He added that education would not only help individuals to take the mantle of leadership but also empowers one to perfectly discharge future responsibilities, hence the need to offer pupils the required skills needed.
“It is only when we give them the requisite education and training that they can be good citizens and contribute their quota to national development in the future,” he added.
He has then urged the government to commit more resources to the educational sector and orphan homes to improve basic infrastructure and logistics to make teaching and learning more rewarding while children in the orphanage get everything they need in life.
The facilitator of the choosing generation of Jesus Christ orphanage home, Mr. Francis Nyarko, expressed gratitude for the gesture, saying the items would go a long way to improving the wellbeing of the children in their care.
He said the Home, also one of the important wings of the Chosen Generation of Jesus Christ orphanage, has established a rehabilitation centre for drug addicts at Abuakwa Koforidua.
According to him, it became apparently necessary to establish the centre to take care of children of female and male addicts and also children who were found abandoned.
